Hazardous Material Fee Setup

August 7, 2022 by John Lopez

A Hazardous Material Fee (aka environmental fee) is a fee charged by most auto repair businesses to cover the costs of properly disposing of hazardous materials in a way that is environmentally safe.

These fees are meant to cover the cost of items such as chemical waste fluids, failed or old parts and other hazardous waste disposal.

To update or set up your shop’s HazMat Fees in Manager SE, just follow the steps below.

1. Click on Setup (gears at the top of you Manager SE Screen).

2. Select Shop Data.

3. Click on Shop / Hazmat and go to Hazardous Material towards the bottom.

4. Make sure Default is set to On.

5. Set the Account Class to Hazmat Revenue, so that all of your Hazmat Fees show up when you run the “Revenue by GL Code Report”.

6. To set a specific fee for every order, make the minimum and maximum the same amount. If you prefer the amount to vary based on the labor or parts sales, set a percentage above the "Default" box and set a lower minimum and a higher maximum.
